Hiking with The Huskies & Canoeing Combination Adventure

Great Family Holiday

Our 7-day / 6-night soft adventure combines easy hiking and backpacking with the huskies, canoeing and boating. First three days are spent trekking with the huskies followed by three days at the homestead where you can choose from a variety of lodge based activities. Canoeing and boating on the lake are the most popular. Families with children 12 years and over are welcome on all trips.

Itinerary:

Day 1: A transfer is provided from your hotel to Lake Laberge and by boat across to the homestead on the eastern shore. Afternoon hike on high ridges overlooking the lake, accompanied by the dogs. This evening a ‘welcome’ cookout is provided on the lakeshore. We believe in serving good food and lots of it! Special diets can often be accommodated. Overnight: cabin accommodation.

Day 2: The 3-day backpacking trip commences this morning. Our pack-dog companions carry the food and tents (the heavy stuff) so guests only need to carry their personal items. Our base camp for two nights is beside a beautiful lake and after setting up the camp, we can relax or go swimming. Overnight camping.

Day 3: Today we need take only small day packs to explore the trails in the region. Huskies join us for the exercise and make great companions on the trail. Overnight at base camp.

Day 4: We pack up the camp and return to the homestead. Route follows a trail with spectacular views over Lake Laberge. Overnight in a cabin.

Days 5, 6, and 7 – Are spent exploring the Lake Laberge area by foot, canoe, and boat, focusing on natural beauty and historical interest. The dogs join us on our hikes and may join us for canoeing or boating if guests wish! Return transfer to Whitehorse on the afternoon of Day 7.
